Sophie S. Kulas, 89, Enjoyed Spending Time With Her Family

Photo of Sophie S. Kulas Sophie S. Kulas (nee Gerron), 89, of Lorain, died Thursday May 1, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

She was born March 16, 1919 in Amherst and had resided in Lorain most of her life.

Sophie was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Lorain, the church Altar & Rosary Society and was very active in the St. Stanislaus School PTA where all six of her children attended.

Sophie was a woman of deep faith with a life-long devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. She prayed the rosary daily and loved to bake and cook for her family. She enjoyed word puzzles, reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Theodore Kulas of Chicago, Illinois, daughters Alexandria (Bruno) Meade of Amherst and Rosemary Sennhenn of Lorain, grandchildren, Michael Kulas, Susan James, Michelle Dailey, Dawn Parker, Dan Kulas, Lori Sheriff, Victoria James, Amy Ruiz and Cheryl Wilson, 17 great grandchildren and sister Helen Sexstella. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Kulas, sons Joseph Kulas, Raymond Kulas and Leonard Kulas, grandson David Kulas, parents Andrew and Victoria Gerron (nee Holeva), brothers Theodore Gerron, Frank Gerron and Stanley Gerron and sisters Josephine Deminski, Julie Wozniak, Marion Knitter, Marcella Haas and Louise Sroka.

The family will receive friends Friday 3-5, 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Stanislaus Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Friday at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 2702 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, parish administrator, will be celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
