Joseph Bandagski, Sr., 84, Member of Bethel Chapel

Joseph Bandagski, Sr, 84, of Sheffield Township died Saturday May 3, 2008 at Autumn Aegis Nursing Home in Lorain after a one-year illness.

He was born October 14, 1923 in Toledo and had resided in Sheffield Township most of his life.

Joe was a graduate of Lorain High School. He served with the US Army and Navy during World War II.

Joe worked at Fruehauf Trailer in Avon for 20 years and then worked for Smith Equipment in Elyria where he retired. He also had an ice cream truck for Crawford’s.

Joe boxed in Golden Gloves fights in Lorain. He enjoyed watching baseball and gardening. He was a member of Bethel Chapel in Sheffield Township.

He is survived by his daughters Sally (Orville) Adams of Elyria Township, Bonnie (Ray) Grosswiler and Cindy (Danny) Parsons all of Sheffield Township, son Joseph (Lorri) Bandagski, Jr. of Sheffield Township, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and 2 sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian June Bandagski (nee Cromwell) in 1983, parents Julius & Agnes Bandagski (nee Skutz) and 2 sisters and 4 brothers.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, 640 N. Ridge Road, Lorain. The Rev. Danny Parsons, pastor of Church of the New Harvest in Amherst and the Rev. Lorri Bandagski, pastor of Bethel Chapel in Sheffield Township, will co-officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain.
