Eugene "Gene" F. Redinger, 86, Life member of Amvets Post # 22
Eugene " Gene" F. Redinger, 86 of Vermilion, unexpectedly passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 at his home.
He was born July 31, 1921 in Lorain, and has been a life long Vermilion resident.
He was a WW II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving State side.
He owned and operated Redinger Excavating since 1947 and was still active in his excavating business.
He was a life member of Amvets Post # 22, Vermilion. He enjoyed gardening, farming, taking pictures and videos, polka music, collecting old music records and coins, and Vermilion history.
Survivors include his sons, Garry (Irene) Martin of Lorain and Barry (Judith) Martin of Toronto, Canada; sister, Patricia Troxel of Catawba Island; 6 grandchildren: Sean Martin, Melanie Clippinger, Jenny Martin, Jaime Martin, Garry Martin, and Michael Martin; 4 great granddaughters and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Arlene Redinger in 2005; parents, Nicholas and Agnes (nee Barthel) Redinger; sisters Catharine Kelm and Betty Jeavons, and brother, John Redinger.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.
Services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2008 at 12 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, with Reverend Wendell Brooker officiating.
Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery where the Vermilion Veterans Council will conduct Military Honors.
