John T. Farais, Sr, 81, Electrician at US Steel
John T. Farais, Sr., 81, of Avon, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake.
He was born December 10, 1926 in Blaine, Ohio and had resided in the Lorain County area most of his life.
John served as a Private First Class with the US Marine Corps from February 1945 to August 1946. He worked as an electrician in the pipe mills at US Steel in Lorain for 38 � years retiring in 1987.
John was a member of the Slovak Catholic Sokols and the American Slovak Home. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his family.
He is survived by his sons: John Farais, Jr. of Novato, California, Marty (Barb) Farais of Berlin Heights, Joseph Farais of Oakland, California and Paul Farais of Anaheim, California, 3 grandchildren and longtime companion Delores Tesmer. He was preceded in death by infant son Edward Farais in 1964, parents Martin & Johanna Farais (nee Haboustak), brother Martin Farais and sisters Ann Farais and Mary Shea.
The family will receive friends Monday, May 26, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
