Betsy Rae Green, 39, 1987 Graduate of Admiral King High School

Photo of Betsy Rae  Green Betsy Rae Green, 39, of Amherst, died at University Hospital in Cleveland on May 28, 2008, following a battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born July 3, 1968 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident of the Amherst/Lorain area.

Betsy was a 1987 graduate of Admiral King High School in Lorain. She was a US Navy veteran.

She was currently pursuing a career in the medical field. Previously she had worked at Marconi Industries in Lorain and Lithonia Downlighting in Vermilion.

Betsy enjoyed spending time with her children and family, fishing on the pier, casino trips and playing cards, bingo and darts.

She is survived by her daughter Lynsey Holzhauer and son Cory Holzhauer, both at home, sisters Kelly Caudill (nee Green) of Vermilion and Paula Clark (nee Pliszka) of Sheffield Village, brother Dan Pliszka of Vermilion, sisters Sheri Abood (nee Green) and Lisa Powell (nee Green) both of North Ridgeville, aunts Tammy Ramirez of Amherst Township and Christie Kosztyo of Lorain, uncles E.T. Parker of West Virginia and Steve Blake of Lorain and former husband Kurt Holzhauer of Amherst. She was preceded in death by her mother Twila Hagood (nee Blake) in January 2008, infant sister Lori Pliszka, maternal grandmother Bessie Blake (nee Christy) and maternal grandfather Owen D. Blake.

The family will receive friends Monday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Lorri Bandagski, pastor of Bethel Chapel in Sheffield Township, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
