Daniel Michael Borsos, 78, Lifelong Lorain Resident

Photo of Daniel Michael  Borsos Daniel Michael Borsos, 78 of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly in the emergency room at Community Health Partners on June 14, 2008.

He was born on October 5, 1929 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. He attended St. Ladislaus Parochial School, Whittier Junior High School, and Lorain High School-Class of 1947. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in Lorain. He was also elected President of the first Lorain City sponsored Youth Center in 1947.

Daniel worked at U.S. Steel as an Electrician and Relief Foreman, retiring with 30years service in 1979. He went on to work at Republic/LTV Steel for 14 more years, as a First Class Electrician. He also worked part-time for Majestic Molding for many years in the Machine Maintenance Department.

While at U.S. Steel he served as a Union Local #1104 Grievance Committeeman in the 1960’s. He also was a player/manager on the U.S. Steel Softball Teams in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Anna Mae (Gajdos), beloved daughters, Kathleen Marie Janda-Page(Robert Page) of Lorain, Lisa Ann Arellanes(Steven) of Amherst, Annette Margaret Kunakowsky (Victor), New York City, New York, Barbara Spaich (John, Jr.) Avon Lake. His memory will be cherished by his grandchildren, William Thomas Janda, Jr., Jamie Danielle Janda, Steven Christopher-John Arellanes, Joseph Julius-John Arellanes, Andrei Michael Kunakowsky who was born on June 17, 2008, and many of his grandchildrens’ friends that considered him “Grandpa”. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel in 1958 and his mother Margaret (Csohany) in 2002.

His family will receive friends may call Sunday, June 29, 2007, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday, June 30, 2008 with of closing prayers at 9:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Homewood Drive and (Route 75) Grove Avenue, Lorain. The Rev. Fr. Thomas R. Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
