Estelle "Stella" Klapkowski, 82, Avid Fan of Cleveland Professional Sports Teams
Estelle Stella Klapkowski, age 82, of Lorain, died Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following a brief illness.Miss Klapkowski was born in Lorain on April 29, 1926 and had remained a life-long resident of the city.
She attended Saint Stanislaus Parochial School and was a parishioner of Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church.
A long-time resident of the Kennedy Plaza, Stella was and avid fan of the Cleveland Indians, Browns, and Cavaliers professional sports teams. She enjoyed going on rides and especially liked playing with her great niece’s dogs.
She is survived by nieces Dolores Kostelnik, Elaine Maticic, Darlene Mahilo, and Diane Loving, by her nephew Louis Bud Maticic, along with ten great nieces & great nephews, and by five great great nieces and great great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Mary (nee Mika) Klapkowski, sisters Amelia Dembek, Wanda Rybarczyk, Sophia Maticic, and Frances Klapkowski, by brothers Bruno, Edward, John, and William Klapkowski, and by her niece Leona Denes.
Stella was a friend to all and will be missed by many.
A memorial mass will be conducted at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, Lorain.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made in her name to the charity of the donor's choice.
