Harry T. Kollias, 81, Devoted to Reading the Bible & Prayer

Photo of Harry T.  Kollias Harry T. Kollias, 81, of Lorain, died Wednesday June 25, 2008 at Amherst Manor Nursing Home in Amherst after a short illness.

He was born December 18, 1926 in Greece and had resided in the Lorain area for the past 50 years.

While living in Greece, Harry served as a sergeant in the Greek Army during the Greek Civil War.

Harry worked at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant in the receiving department for 30 years retiring in 1989.

He was devoted to his religion reading the Bible daily and praying for his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons Ted Kollias and wife Jeanette of Grand Blanc, Michigan and Bill Kollias and wife Maria of Plymouth, Michigan, daughters Peggy Karolak and husband Dave of Lorain and Christine Kollias of Parma, grandchildren Meagan Kollias, Patrick Kollias, Nicole Kollias and Trace Karolak, sister Helen Asimou of Lorain and Yarefo Bardosas of Athens, Greece and brother Nick Kollias of Anchorage, Alaska. He was preceded in death by his wife Margarita Kollias (nee Karaboyias) in 2001 and parents Theodoros and Panayota Kollias (nee Mihalis).

The family will receive friends Friday 4-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where a Trisayion service will be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain. The Rev. Michael Gulgas, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
