Mary H. Pongracz, 91, Enjoyed Baking and Travel

Photo of Mary H. Pongracz Mary H. Pongracz, (nee Fulla), age 91, of Lorain, died Thursday July 3rd at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph following a brief illness. Mrs. Pongracz was born in Lorain on December 28, 1916 and remained a life-long resident of the city.

A graduate of Lorain High School as a member of the Class of 1935-A, she was employed as a sales associate for the former Smith & Gerhardt Department Store of Lorain.

She was a parisishioner of the Catholic Church of Saint Peter in Lorain and was also affiliated with the William Penn Lodge. She enjoyed baking and travel; additional interests included taking bus trips and playing cards.

Mrs. Pongracz is survived by her daughter Elaine (Paul) Glaser of Lorain, granddaughter Sue (Jim) Glowacki of Amherst, grandson Steven Glaser of Cleveland, and great grandchildren Lauren Glowacki, Morgan Glowacki, and Ryan Glowacki.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles in1998, by her parents Louis and Mary (nee Smoley) Fulla, and by sisters Dorothy and Lucy Fulla.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Monday beginning with closing prayers offered in the funeral chapel at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. in the Church of Saint Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of Saint Peter Parish will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
