Marie J. Akosi, 81, Dedicated Homemaker, Enjoyed World Traveling
Marie J. Akosi (nee Ingrassia), 81, of Lorain, died Friday, July 25, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain after a lengthy illness.
She was born May 17, 1927 in Lorain and was a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Marie was a graduate of the Lorain High School class of 1945 B. A dedicated homemaker, she also worked at General Industries in Elyria, US Steel in Lorain during World War II and as a supermarket food demonstrator.
She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Lorain. Marie enjoyed her family, bingo and was a world traveler.
Survivors include her sons David Akosi and wife Pat of Lorain and Thomas Akosi and wife Janet of Vermilion, daughter Mrs. Ed (Karyn) Ferraro of Lorain, grandchildren Cara Gomez and husband David, Katie Ferraro, Kim Akosi, Becky Akosi and Michael Ferraro, great-grandson Nathan Gomez and twin sister Carmella Katona of Rochester, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas W. Akosi on April 6, 1997, infant son Thomas Akosi, parents Ben and Teresa Ingrassia (nee Frustere), brother Buster Ingrassia and sisters Theresa Brkopac and Rosetta Peterson.
The family will receive friends Monday 2-4, & 7-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
