Robert D. "Boz" Bozman, 57, Ford Motor Lorain Assembly Plant Retiree

He was born in Elyria on February 26, 1951 and had been a resident of Lorain for the past twenty-one years. Mr. Bozman was a graduate of Elyria High School as a member of the Class of 1969. While attending E.H.S. he was extremely active in the Industrial Arts Program there.

Boz was employed as a floor man for Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant; he retired in 1993 following a career that spanned twenty-four years with the auto manufacturer.

He was active with the Elyria Recreation Department’s Flag Football League and received much publicity as the coach of the Browns, the only team to have a female quarterback on its roster.

He was an avid deer hunter who also enjoyed league bowling at Rebman’s Recreation in Lorain. He was an ardent fan of the Sci-Fi Network and of horror films as well as a loyal follower of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers professional sports teams. Additional interests included NASCAR Racing with a special focus on the career and accomplishments of Dale Jarrett.

Mr. Bozman was a former member of United Autoworkers’ Local 425, as well as a member of the United Polish Club of Lorain, the Polish American Citizens Club of Lorain, and Pulaski Post # 38 of the Polish Legion of American Veterans.

He is survived by his long-time companion Donna Rogers, sons Robert D. “Robby” Bozman, Jr. of Elyria, daughters Jacqueline “Jackie” Bozman of Amherst, and Jeannine (Roland) Sheppard of Lorain, ten grandchildren, and sisters Elizabeth “Annie” Barrette of Oswego, Illinois, Theresa Gibbons and Mary Lewis both residing in Tiskliwa, Illinois, and Shannon Trent of Princeton, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his infant son Christopher Bozman in 1977, by his parents Robert Dennis and Helen (nee White) Bozman, and by a brother Darrell.

Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Robert Daugherty will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery in Carlisle Township.
