Frieda Konnerth, 87, Lorain Saxon Club and Liedertafel Club Member
Frieda Konnerth, (nee Schaller), age 87, of Amherst, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born in Germany on February 17, 1921 and immigrated to the United States in 1950. Frieda had been a long-time resident of Lorain prior to moving to Amherst three years ago.
A member of Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Lorain, Frieda was an accomplished cook and baker whose specialties included chicken with German Rice, strudel, and nut rolls.
She was a past member of both the Lorain Saxon Club and the Lorain Liedertafel Club.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years John, sons Hans Konnerth of Amherst, Reinhart Konnerth of Vermilion, Monica Cinniger of Lorain, and Heidi Fleming of Amherst, grandchildren Crystal Fleming, Joseph Fleming, Kelsey Fleming, Robert Cinniger, Edwin Cinniger, Marleen Cecil, Lisa Konnerth, Hans Konnerth, Shawn Konnerth, and Michael Konnerth, great grandchildren Kaleigh, Alexis, Jolynn, Mallory, Carson, Madison, Landin, Evan, Jonathon, and William, and sisters Raisee and Marie residing in Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Katarina Schaller.
Visitation will be Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Philip E. Kunz, Pastor of Saint John United Church of Christ presiding. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
