Owen J. Burk, 83, Inspector
Owen J. Burk, age 83 of Lorain, died Saturday August 30, 2008 at Community Health Partners Hospital after a yearlong illness.
He was born April 18, 1925 in Dearborn, MI, and was a 60 year resident of the Lorain area.
Mr. Burk was an inspector for the Ford Motor Co.in Lorain, retiring in 1985 after 27 years.
He was a WW2 Navy veteran serving as a Torpedoman's Mate Third Class.
He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
A Mason, Mr. Burk belonged to the Stonington Lodge #503 in Amherst. He was also a 32nd degree Mason with the Valley of Cleveland Scottish Rite.
He is survived by a son Kevin C. Burk of Campbellsburg, KY, and a Daughter Karen L. Olds of Lorain, and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Louise Burk (Herbst) in 2000, his parents Owen and Julia (Sommers) Burk, and a brother.
Friends may call Thursday, September 4, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Reichlin-Cooley Funeral Home, 2920 Broadway, Lorain. Masonic services by Stonington Lodge will be conducted at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Rev. Philip Kunz will officiate. Burial will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, where military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post 30, and the VFW Post 541 joint honor guard.
