Rita Ann Formholtz, 77, Enjoyed Working In Her Garden

She was born September 30, 1930 in Altoona, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain since 1960.

Rita was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and working outside in the yard.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years Elwood Joseph Formholtz, sons Gerard Joseph Formholtz and wife Peggy and David Gerard Formholtz, all of Lorain, daughter Mary Geralyn McCoy and husband Daniel of Milan, grandchildren Luke McCoy and Mackenzie McCoy, both of Milan and Samuel Gerard Formholtz and Joseph Gerard Formholtz, both of Lorain, sisters Jane Marie Gaul of Clermont, Florida and Mary Valentinnson of Belleville, New Jersey, brother Tom Shaffer of Tyrone, Pennsylvania, sister-in-law Judy Shaffer of Altoona, Pennsylvania, goddaughter Ann Deshuk of Lorain and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son Stephen Gerard Formholtz, parents Leo and Grace Shaffer (nee Wertz), brothers Joseph Shaffer and John Shaffer, brothers-in-law Gene Gaul and Pete Valentinnson and sisters-in-law Vera Shaffer and Ruth Shaffer.

There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held Mondat at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Chuck Henkle, associate pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
