Joseph R. Janosik, Jr., 63, U.S. Steel Product Scheduler

Photo of Joseph R. Janosik, Jr. Joseph R. Janosik, Jr., age 63, of Lorain, died peacefully on Sunday September 28, 2008 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph in Lorain.

He was born on January 13, 1945 in Lorain and was a graduate of Admiral King High School.

Following his graduation Mr. Janosik joined the United States Steel Corporation where he was employed as a product scheduler. He left the steel producer in 1994 and was most recently employed as a customer service representative for Willow Do It Best Hardware Store in Lorain.

Joe was a former member of the Ohio National Guard where he fulfilled duty assignments as a Combat Construction Specialist attached to Company D of the 112th Combat Engineers Battalion in Lorain.

Joe was a parishioner of Saint Mary Catholic Church and was a member life member of Amvets Post # 22 in Vermilion, a life member of the American Slovak Club, as well as a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed fishing and following the Cleveland Indians. Additional interests included cooking and socializing with friends and family.

He is survived by his son Chief Petty Officer Joseph R. Janosik, III of Springfield, Virginia and currently serving with the United States Navy, daughter Jane (John) Cinato of Warren, Michigan, grandchildren Sadie, Anthony, and Braden Cinato, his mother Anne (Nee Smith) Janosik of Lorain, and his brother Michael J. (Karen) Janosik also of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph R. Janosik, Sr. in 1985 and by his sister Joanne Szilvasy in 1998.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. until time of services at 8:00 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Philip Feltman will officiate.
