Antonia Santiago, 89, Enjoyed Gardening & Cooking

Photo of Antonia Santiago Antonia Santiago (nee Rosario), 89 of Lorain, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born August 12, 2008 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. She came to Lorain in 1952.

Mrs. Santiago was a homemaker and mother, who was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was a loyal friend and a loving mother and grandmother.

She will be deeply missed by her family, including her sons Carlos (Norma) and Tomas (Kinue) Santiago both of Lorain, Alfonso (Mary Lou) Santiago of Pontiac, Mich., and Jose Santiago of Seffner, Fla.; daughters Carmen Delgado, Silvia “Cindy”(Wilfredo) Martinez and Rosa Santiago all of Lorain, and Ana Miranda of Oberlin and Lydia (Grant) Ely of Avon Lake; brother Jose Rosario of Hobart, Mich.; sisters Francisca Moyet and Carmen Reyes both of Auburn Hills, Mich. and Bernarda Arroyo of Caguas; 24 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Tomas Santiago in 2002, her parents Alberto and Tomasa (nee Rodriguez) Rosario, a granddaughter Wendy Mateo in 2006 and 11 brothers and sisters.

Her family will receive friends Thurs., Oct. 2 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio, phone (440) 277-8164.

Funeral services will be Fri., Oct 3 with closing prayers at the funeral home at 8:45 AM followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, South Lorain. Rev., Fr. William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
