William S. "Uncle Willie" Camarillo, 97, Army Veteran
William S. Uncle Willie Camarillo, 97, of Lorain, died Monday October 6, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.
He was born April 22, 1911 in Manheim, Texas and had resided in Lorain since 1924.
He was a graduate of Lorain High School and served with the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1942.
He was employed at the Lorain Stove Works and US Steel Pipe Mills where he retired in 1976.
He is survived by his nephews William (Janet) Camarillo, Jesse (Eileen) Camarillo and Roland (Patricia) Camarillo, nieces Joyce Decker and Gloria (George) White, sister-in-law Josephine Camarillo and many great and great great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Camarillo (nee Black) in 1997, parents Pietro and Francis Camarillo (nee DeLeon), sister Sophie and brother Jesse.
The family will receive friends Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Daniel O. Divis, pastor of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lorain, will preside. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
