Louis S. Bari, 95, Enjoyed Woodworking and Fishing
Louis S. Bari, 95, of Lorain, died Wednesday October 22, 2008 at Anchor Lodge Nursing Home in Lorain after a short illness.
He was born May 10, 1913 in Jyor, Hungary and had resided in Lorain since 1921.
Louis worked at US Steel in Lorain as an expeditor for 40 years retiring in 1975.
He was a member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain where he served on church council and was a member of the church Holy Name Society where he served as president from 1965-1966. In 1984 he was named Holy Name Man-of-the-Year. He was a member and president of the American Hungarian Citizens Club for 7 years and was named Hungarian Man-of-the-Year in 1983. He was a member and vice president of Hungarian Council and a member of the St. Ladislaus Church Sick Benefit Society where he served as president for 2 years and recording secretary for 21 years.
Louis enjoyed woodworking, gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his son Robert L. Bari and wife Marie of Lorain, grandsons Robert Bari and wife Kim of Uniontown and Mathew Bari and wife Kathi of Westlake and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen B. Bari (nee Diosy) on Dec. 22, 2005, son Kenneth Bari, parents Ignacz and Anna Bari (nee Gereucer) and sister Mary Latrany.
The family will receive friends Friday 5-9 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ladislaus Catholic Church, 1412 E. 29th St., Lorain. The Rev. James Schmitz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
