Richard L. Pazder, 86, Beloved Cleveland Sports Fan

Photo of Richard L. Pazder Richard L. Pazder, 86, of Lorain, died Sunday November 2, 2008 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a brief illness.

He was a born October 11, 1922 in Lorain and was a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Richard was a graduate of Lorain High School with the class of 1940-B and Miami University at Oxford, Ohio class of 1947 where he was a member of Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.

He was the former owner of Miraldi’s Café and Spaghetti House in the 1960’s and the Huddle Café in the 1970’s. He was also the finance officer for the Lorain County Commissioners office retiring in 1984.

During World War II, he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Navy and as an executive officer aboard several minesweepers in the Pacific Theater.

As a youth, Richard received the Honor of the Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He was a beloved sports fan of all Cleveland area professional teams.

Richard was an avid golfer achieving the thrill of 3 hole-in-ones in his lifetime.

He is survived by his sons Richard Pazder of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, Martin Pazder of Huron and Jeffrey Pazder of Lorain, brother Robert Pazder and wife Kate of Erie, PA, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and former wife Roberta (nee Pinkerton). He was preceded in death by his son Christopher Pazder and parents Martin and Marie Pazder (nee Kubanek).

A graveside service will be held Thursday November 6th at 2:00 p.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 N. Ridge Road, Amherst Township.
