Gary Bennett, 56, Loved Spending Time with Family and Friends
Gary Bennett, 56, of Lorain, beloved son and brother, died Saturday morning November 15, 2008.
Gary was born in Elyria, January 5, 1952. He was a 1970 graduate of Admiral King. He retired from U. S. Steel, Lorain in 2000, after 30 years of employment. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union Local 1104 of Lorain.
He lived here since 1961, after moving from Grafton.
When in school Gary was an avid bowler. Since then he made his mom and sister his top priority. He loved being with his family and friends, playing cards, and watching horseracing. Gary was a Christian, and was an advocate for senior citizens especially those in nursing homes. He wanted them to have a voice and have someone to speak for them.
Gary is survived by his mother Josephine Bennett (nee Boise) and sister and brother in law Amy and John Kowalczyk of Lorain.
Gary was preceded in death by his father Harold Jim in 1974.
His family will receive friends Thursday, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, Ohio, (440) 277-8164. His funeral service will be in the funeral home Friday at 10:30 a.m. Rev Dale Warwick, pastor of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Elyria will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
