James J. Mauro, 85, Avid Bowler

James J. Mauro, 85, of Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania died Sunday December 7, 2008 at his home after a 3-month illness.

He was born October 18, 1923 in Lorain, Ohio and had resided in the Harrisburg, PA area since 1970 moving from Lorain.

James worked as a purchasing agent for the Freuhauf Trailer Company in Avon Lake, Ohio for 43 years.

He was an avid bowler and is the 1st Pennsylvania man over the age of 70 to have bowled two 300 games. James was the former manager of the Old Dutch Brewerettes softball team that played in the Michigan-Ohio league. He attended Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years Mary Mauro(nee Dziak), sisters Carmelia Lewis of Lorain, Antoinette Parillo and Martha Gibbs, both of New Brunswick, NJ and Mary Perrone of Melbourne, FL; brothers Joseph of South Amboy, NJ, Anthony of New Brunswick, NJ and Frank of Trenton, NJ and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Mauro(nee Tripoli).

The family will receive friends Thursday 5-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. Deacon Dave DeLuca will officiate. Burial wil follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
