Ruben Zamora-Garza, 58, Enjoyed Playing Pool and Bowling

Photo of Ruben  Zamora-Garza Ruben Zamora-Garza, 58 of Lorain, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 in the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.

He was born July 3, 1950 in Lorain. He was a life long resident, with the exception of 1969, which he spent in Seaside, Cal.

Mr. Zamora retired this year from Norfolk and Southern Rail Road as a foreman, he worked as a track patrolman and safety committeeman. He worked there for 38 years. He was a co-owner of Zamora’s Crossing in South Lorain. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Zamora was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, trimming his bonsai tree, oldies music, and children. He was an avid Browns fan. He was also a member of the Mexican Mutual and the Puerto Rican Home.

Among the survivors are his wife of 37 tears Judith “Judy” Zamora (nee Davila); and a son Ruben G. Zamora, Jr. of Lorain; his mother Consuelo Garza (nee Rios) of Lorain; sisters Mary Montanez and Catherine Martinez both of Lorain; brothers Santiago “Jimmy” Zamora of Lorain and a grandson Dominic E. Jones Zamora of Lorain.

He was preceded in death by his father Miguel Garza; Grandmother Brijida Vara and uncles, Frank Rios and Larry Rios.

His family will receive friends Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164. Funeral services will be Saturday with closing prayers at the funeral home at 8:45 a.m. followed by Mass of the Resurrection at 9:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Avenue, South Lorain. Reverend, Father William A. Thaden, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. Where the Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy, Chapter 20, Lorain will conduct military honors.
