Robert "Bob" Edward Reinhardt, 89, Enjoyed Fishing and Bowling

He was born April 14, 1919 in Buffalo, NY and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 30 years moving from Sheffield Lake.
Bob served two separate tours of duty in the US Army, one prior to Pearl Harbor and one following. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a Purple Heart Recipient.
He worked as a general foreman and material handling engineer for the Ford Motor Company in Lorain, retiring after 40 years of dedicated service.
Bob was instrumental in establishing the volunteer fire department in Ebeneezer, New York and also acted as a volunteer fireman for many years. He also served as a councilman in Sheffield Lake for many years.
A devoted Catholic parishioner, he was responsible for raising money for the Queen of Heaven parish in West Seneca, NY and St. Thomas Catholic Church in Sheffield Lake. He was also member of the Holy Name Society at St. Thomas parish. In Vermilion, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the head usher for more than 30 years.
Bob was a member of the VFW Post 7576, AMVETS Post 22 and American Legion Post 397, all in Vermilion, a 4th Degree member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus #4539. He enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and card playing, bowled on the Senior Fellowship League at Rebman's and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler's fan.
Survivors include his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Rosemary (nee Italiano) Reinhardt of Vermilion; son, Randolph Michael (Deborah) Reinhardt of Vermilion, daughters, Roberta Annette Reinhardt of Avon Lake and Lisa Jean (Zane) Kuhl of Vermilion; grandchildren, Barbara Ann Reinhardt, Rod Reinhardt, Elizabeth Rose (Kuhl) Fernandez, Natalie Rose Kuhl and Elliot Joseph Vertucci; great-grandchildren, Emily Rose and Isabelle Rose Fernandez, Ava Corrin Bailey and Brandon and Jessica Fernandez.
He was preceded-in-death by his parents, Edward and Caroline (nee Gruber) Reinhardt.
Friends may call Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 from 2-6 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. The Knights of Columbus will post Honor Guard in the funeral home and the Vermilion Veteran's Council will provide military honors beginning at 5:50 p.m. Closing prayers will be said at the funeral home on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion. Fr. Jim Holmer, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Rugby Cemetery, Vermilion.
