Susan E. Friend, 57, Apples Delicatessen Manager
Susan E. Friend (nee St. Clair), age 57, of Lorain, died Thursday Jan. 1, 2009 at her residence following a brief illness.
Susan was born in Warren, Ohio on Jan. 5, 1951 and had been a resident of Lorain for the past thirty years.
A parishioner of Saint Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lorain, she was employed as the Delicatessen Manager at the Apple’s Grocery Store in the Meister Road Shopping Center.
She was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers’ Local # 880 whose hobbies included travel, sports, crafting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of eleven years Michael “Mick”, by sons Derrick Cope and his wife Amy residing in North Ridgeville, Gregory Stocker of Lorain, daughter Melissa Wilson of Nelson Township, Ohio, six grandchildren, her mother Betty I. St. Clair (nee Agler) of Courtland, brothers Robert residing in North Carolina, Patrick of Courtland, Kevin of Avon, and Tim of Painesville, and sisters Debbie Testa of Leavittsburg, Ohio, Janet Masterson of Tennessee, Jane Bradley of Madison, Ohio, Mary Flynt of Courtland, and Julie Sheeley of East Liverpool.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert St. Clair in 1993.
Visitation will be Sunday Jan. 4th from 4 p.m. until time of funeral services at 7 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel – 3224 Broadway Avenue – Lorain. The Reverend Mr. John Slatcoff, Permanent Deacon representing St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church will preside. Burial will take place in Pine Knoll Cemetery, Warren Township, Ohio.
