Antoinette A. Burke, 88, Enjoyed Cooking and Crafts

She was born Dec. 27, 1920 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Antoinette was a graduate of the Lorain High School class of 1939B and then worked as a clerk at JC Penney prior to her marriage.

She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, the Young Ladies Sodality of the church and the Beaver Park Sail Club in Lorain.

Antoinette was very proud of her Italian heritage and the fact her ancestors originated from Pizzone, Italy. Her family was one of the charter members of the first St. Peter Church in Lorain.

She enjoyed cooking, crafts and family gatherings.

She is survived by her children Kathleen Burke-Balogh (Andrew) of Lorain, David Burke (Sherry), Paul Burke (Joyce) and John Burke (Anita), all of Lorain, grandchildren David Ross, Christopher, Brent, Nicholas, Mark, Courtney, Brianna and Reid.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph G. Burke on Aug. 18, 2008, parents Nicholas & Virginia DiBenedetto and sisters Mary Monaco, Rita DiBenedetto and Fannie Kuebler.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 12 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
