Robert G. Engelhardt, 84, Ohio State Buckeye Fan

Photo of Robert G. Engelhardt Robert G. Engelhardt, 84, of Lorain died Friday, Jan. 16, 2008 at the Kingston of Vermilion in Vermilion following a brief illness.

Mr. Engelhardt was born in Lorain on Dec. 14, 1924, the son of the late Robert R and Rhea N (nee Geisel) Engelhardt. He was a lifelong resident of this area.

He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Lorain, and was active in the church's Men's Club.

Mr. Engelhardt was a retired maintenance worker at US Steel Lorain with 40 years service prior to retiring in 1981. He also worked for the Western Union Telegram Service.

He was a member of the American-Slovak Club, enjoyed biking, his dogs and especially his family time. He considered himself the # 1 fan of the comedy team "Three Stooges" and collected some of their memorabilia. He was an Ohio State Buckeye fan and was the current reigning "King of Kingston." He also enjoyed watching movies.

Mr. Engelhardt is survived by his brother Jack Engelhardt of Amherst, nieces Amy (Christopher White) of Akron, Susan (Dr. John) Schaeffer of Amherst, Cindy (Jon) Williams of Columbus, Liz (Tom Vaughan) Engelhardt of Seattle, WA, Peg Engelhardt of Columbus, Pat (Charles) Walder of Hudson, nephews, Ted Engelhardt of Lorain, Rick Engelhardt of Amherst, 12 great nieces and nephews, 3 great great nieces and 2 great great nephews as well as several cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Theodore R. Engelhardt, his sisters-in-law Mildred (the late Theodore) Engelhardt, Mary (Jack) Englehardt.

The family will receive guests at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funeral, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain on Monday, Jan 26, 2009 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. At 1 p.m. a Memorial Service will begin in the funeral home with Rev. Phil Kunz, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial will follow the service in Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
