Agnes D. Kotcher, 91, Avid Vegetable Gardener
Agnes D. Kotcher, (nee Urbanik), age 91, of Sheffield Township, died Monday Jan. 19, 2009 at her residence following a period of declining health.She was born in Lorain on October 31, 1917 and had been a life-long resident of Sheffield Township.
Mrs. Kotcher was a graduate of Clearview high School. She was an avid vegetable gardener and operator of Aggie's roadside Vegetable Stand. In her free time she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, solving crossword puzzles, and watching televised westerns. She was also an ardent supporter of the Native American Indian movement.
Agnes is survived by daughters Rosemary Browning of Sheffield Township, Helen Baughman and Paulette Rieth both of Lorain, son George Kotcher of Vermilion, as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren and by her brother William Urbanik of Sheffield Township and sister Dolores Harwood of South Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bert Kotcher in 2001, by her granddaughter Mary Browning, by her parents Joseph and Mary Urbanik, and by numerous brothers ands sisters.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 p.m 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be observed on Thursday beginning with closing prayers in the funeral chapel at 9:30 a.m. A funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. 2428 Elyria Avenue with the Reverend David A. Novak, Pastor presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
