Mary Gaydosh, 87, Enjoyed Gardening and Cooking

Photo of Mary Gaydosh Mary Gaydosh (nee Ondulich), 87, of Lorain, died Wednesday January 21, 2009 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a brief illness.

She was born January 31, 1921 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and had resided in Lorain since May of 1928.

While in high school Mary worked at Woolworths in Lorain. During World War II she worked at Western-Automatic in Elyria deburring bullets for the war effort.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain, a past member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain, a member of the Holy Trinity Rosary Society and an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. Mary was very devoted to the Blessed Mother and prayed the rosary daily.

She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed gardening, cooking Slovak ethnic dishes and honoring Slovak traditions during the holidays. Mary enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters Charlotte Walton (Randall) of Lorain and Mary Tornabene (James) of Amherst, grandchildren Randall Walton, Jr. (Susan), Michael Walton (Sue), Christine Walton Siley (Dru) and Ryan Tornabene, great grandchildren Ian Walton, Alex Walton, Jonah Siley and Eloise Siley. She was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Gaydosh in 1981, parents Michael & Elizabeth Ondulich (nee Safin), brother George Ondulich and sisters Josephine Veres and Betty Doraski.

The family will receive friends Friday 4-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the Holy Trinity Rosary Society will pray the rosary Friday at 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 2428 Elyria Ave., Lorain. The Rev. David A. Novak, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
