Anthony T. "Big Tony" Berstling, Sr., 84, Enjoyed Playing Harmonica

He was born Jan. 4, 1925 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Tony attended Clearview High School and then served with the US Navy for four years during WWII.
He worked at US Steel in Lorain as head millwright for 44 years retiring in 1982.
He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Sheffield Village, Knights of St. John #281 and Amvets #47 both of Lorain.
Tony enjoyed gardening, loved animals, could fix anything, played the harmonica and enjoyed polka music and polka dances at St. Peter Church. He loved comedy shows and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years Rose Berstling (nee Chozinski), daughter Rosemarie Norton (Tom) of Sheffield Lake, son Tony Berstling, Jr (Elaine) of Sheffield Village, grandchildren Tom Norton, Jr. (Marcie), Amy Hall (Dave), Rick Norton (Melanie), Joyce Stout (Jason), Zachary Berstling and Alex Berstling, great grandchildren Madison Hall, Sabrina Norton, Allison Stout, Norman Stout and Dylan Stout and brother Chuck Berstling of Sandusky.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Berstling in 1990, parents Joseph and Maria Berstling (nee Sedlak), brothers Fritz, Steve, John and Joseph and sisters Sophie and Marge.
The family will receive friends Monday 4-8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1878 Abbe Rd., Sheffield Village. The Rev. Robert Franco, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Teresa Cemetery where the Disabled American Veterans Louis Paul Proy Chapter #20 of Lorain will conduct military honors.
