Gerhard Karl, 78, Brook Park Ford Plant Retiree

He was born Aug. 7, 1930 in Siegen, Germany and had resided in Lorain since 1967 moving from Canada.

Gerhard worked at the Ford Engine Plant in Brook Park as a millwright for 25 years retiring in 1996. He then worked as a security guard for Tenable Security in Cleveland.

He was a member of Lorain Liedertafel.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years Margaret Karl (nee Kreutz) and son Frank Karl of Lorain. He was preceded in death by his parents Otto and Rosa Karl (nee Hermann), brother Horst Karl and sister Halga Strate.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Chris Robinson, chaplain of Community Health Partners Hospital, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
