Agnes Kmieciak-Draves, 85, Enjoyed Crocheting and Embroidery

Photo of Agnes  Kmieciak-Draves Agnes Kmieciak-Draves (nee Rutkowski), 85, of Lorain, died peacefully on Sunday Feb. 8, 2009 after a long illness.

She was born Oct. 26, 1923 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Agnes graduated from Lorain High School class of 1941 B. She worked as a seamstress at S. Weitz Company and as a clerk/cashier at Hough’s Pharmacy and Rite-Aid.

She was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed reading, cooking, embroidery, crocheting, spending time with her many nieces and nephews and her monthly reunions with her friends from the 1937 class of Nativity BVM Catholic School.

She is survived by her sisters Alice Kromroy, Teresa Jachym (John), Frances Callahan and Shirley Jacovetti, all of Lorain, many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband Hughie Kmieciak, second husband Arthur Draves, parents Jakob and Mary Rutkowski (nee Kobylarczyk) and sister Dolores Feldkamp.

The family will receive friends Tuesday 6 - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 1454 Lexington Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Daniel Divis, pastor of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lorain and the Rev. Robert Glepko, pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
