Anne Janosik, 91, Active With Slovak Club Ladies Auxiliary

Photo of Anne Janosik Anne Janosik (nee Smith), 91, of Lorain, died Thursday Feb. 12, 2009 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.

She was born January 5, 1918 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Anne was active in the ladies auxiliary at the American Slovak Club in Lorain where she worked Friday fish fry, wedding receptions and other events.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and attended St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, both in Lorain. Anne was a member of St. Ann’s Lodge Branch 114,St. John/Holy Trinity Lodge Branch 228 and the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her son Michael J. Janosik (Karen) of Lorain, grandchildren Chief Petty Officer Joseph Janosik III, Jane Cinato (John), Carrie Jankowski (Brian), Cindi Szilvasy, Robert Szilvasy, Tim Szilvasy, Michael Janosik, Jr (Melisa), Matthew Janosik and Marcus Janosik and great grandchildren Sadie Cinato, Anthony Cinato, Braden Cinato, Jordan Janosik, McKenzie Janosik and Michael Janosik III. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Janosik, daughter Joanne Szilvasy, son Joseph Janosik, Jr, parents Michael and Frances Smith (nee Hajnacki), sisters Stella Sugaski and Helen Straka and brothers Joseph, Ziegmund, Chester, Walter, Carl and Edward Smith.

The family will receive friends Sunday 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where the St. Ann Lodge, St. John/Holy Trinity Lodge and Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society will pray the rosary Sunday at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 310 8th St., Lorain. The Rev. Daniel Divis, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
