Martha G. Black, 71, Enjoyed Crocheting and Sewing

She was born April 6, 1937 in Memphis, TN and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 51 years, moving from Memphis.

She worked as a secretary for Lakeview Baptist Church for 20 years. She had also worked for Joann Fabrics, Amherst and IGA, Vermilion.

She was a charter member of Lakeview Baptist Church, Vermilion where she was involved with many facets of the church throughout her life. She was also a life member of AMVETS post #22, Vermilion and enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Jimmie Michael (Rebecca) Black of Bethel Springs, TN and Robert Matthew (Kelly) Black of Sandusky, daughter, Susan Renee (Jim) Gatschet of Vermilion, 5 grandchildren: Shannon, Jimmie T. Neal and John Black and Jonathan Gatschet; great granddaughters, Katie & Samantha Black; brothers, Nelson Siler of Bethel Springs, TN and Preston Siler of Louisville, KY; and her twin sister, Mary Bryan of Pinson, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Black in 1997; her parents, Edward "Curtis" and Alice (nee McNeil) Siler; and brothers, William Larry "Buck" and Curtis Dewayne Siler.

The family will receive friends at Lakeview Baptist Church on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009 from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. at Lakeview Baptist Church, 591 Ferndale Avenue, Vermilion, with the Reverend Guy Morton, pastor, officiating.

The family will also receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer, 160 W. Cypress, Selmer, TN 38375.
Services will be held at the Shackelford Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 20, 2009 at 11 a.m., with the Reverend Cliff Morris, pastor of Lakeview Baptist in Vermilion. Burial will follow in Mars Hill Cemetery, Leapwood - Enville Road, Adamsville, TN.
