Lois T. Niesen, 84, Expert Square Dancer

Photo of Lois T. Niesen Lois T. Niesen (nee Nather), 84, of Lorain, died Tuesday Feb. 17, 2009 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain after a short illness.

She was born June 27, 1924 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.

Lois graduated from Lorain High School and attended Lorain Business College for two years. She worked at the Lorain Ford Assembly Plant as a cost analyst for over 20 years before retiring.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Lorain. Lois and her husband Harold attended square dancing classes and became expert western square dancers traveling to different dances and conventions. She enjoyed ceramics, painting scenery and still life and participating in water aerobics at EMH in Avon. She traveled extensively and had visited Europe.

Lois was a very vibrant woman who had many interests, hobbies and an abundance of friends. She will be missed by all.

She is survived by her daughter Jacquelyn A. Niesen of Cleveland Heights, sister Ruth Groene and brother Edwin Nather, both of Lorain. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Niesen in 1985 and parents August and Anna Marie Nather (nee Kihn).

The family will receive friends Thursday 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E. Erie Ave., Lorain. The Rev. Joseph West, OFM Conv., pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
