Theresa Delgado, 81, Enjoyed Cooking and Crocheting

Photo of Theresa Delgado Theresa Delgado (nee Garcia), 81 of Lorain, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009 following a lengthy illness.

She was born Aug. 27, 1927 in Lorain. She was a life long resident, who attended Lorain High School.

Mrs. Delgado retired from Moen Company, Elyria. She had most recently worked as a receptionist for Head Start, Lorain. During World War II she worked for General Industries in Elyria.

She was also a home maker and mother who was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, Lorain. In her youth she belonged to a Mexican folk dancing group. She enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles and cooking for her family.

She will be deeply missed her family, including her sons Vincent L. (Emma) Delgado of Lorain and Robert K. (Lauren) Delgado of Middleburg Heights; daughters Dolores “Lolly” Gonzales, Victoria (Gilbert) Sanchez and Janet Romero all of Lorain; brothers Arthur Garcia of Lorain and Ruben Garcia of Avon; sisters Anna Marie Gere of Sheffield Lake and Estelle Garcia of Elyria; 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and her former son in law Gary Romero of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years Vincent Delgado in 1992; parents Bonifacio and Carmen (nee Sandoval) Garcia; daughter Gloria “Cookie” Alicea; brothers Ray Garcia, John Garcia and Rudy Garcia and a sister Rachel Garcia in infancy.

Her family will receive friends Sunday, 4 to 8 p.m. in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277-8164. Where closing prayers will be Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by Mass of the resurrection in Sacred Heart Chapel, 4301 Pearl Ave. Lorain at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Fr. William A. Thaden, Pastor will oficiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
