Anna S. Demyan, 93, Enjoyed Bowling and Crocheting

Mrs. Demyan was born in Lorain on April 4, 1915 to George and Anna (nee Opalenik) Stanko.
She was formerly employed by the American Ship Building Company during the war effort and later worked as a presser for several area dry cleaning establishments. She was most recently employed by Reliance Electric/Lorain Products Corporation retiring in 1982.
Mrs. Demyan was an active parishioner of St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church in Lorain where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. At the time of her passing she was a member of St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Lacey, Washington. Anna volunteered countless hours baking and cooking for a variety of affairs at St. Nicholas and also served as Secretary of Greek Catholic Union Lodge # 125 for forty years.
She was a member of the American Russo-Slav Bowling Team and bowled in league competition for more than a quarter century.
In her free time she enjoyed gardening, reading, crocheting, and bowling.
She is survived by her daughter Liane Stevenson (husband Dale) of University Place, Washington, three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and sisters Helen Petrus of Boardman, along with Mary Strukely and Marge Skrepich both of Lorain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Michael Demyan in 1960 and by her brother George in 2005.
Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. by the St. Nicholas Altar and Rosary Society followed by Parastas services at 5 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday beginning with Panachida at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. The Divine Liturgy will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Byzantine Rite Catholic Church. 2711 West 40th Street with the Reverend Nicholas Rachford presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages memorials to either Franciscan Hospice P.O. Box 1502, Tacoma, WA. or to the Building Fund at St. George Byzantine Church, 9730 Yelm Highway, Olympia, WA 98503.
