H. Michael Spera, 72, Enjoyed Hunting and Fishing
H. Michael Spera, age 72, of Huron, died unexpectedly on Saturday Feb. 21, 2009 at his residence.He was born in Cleveland on July 20, 1936 and grew up in Lorain; he was a graduate of Clearview High School as a member of the Class of 1955.
A veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Spera was employed by the General Motors Corporation’s Fisher Guide facility in Elyria for many years. He was also the proprietor of a variety of businesses throughout greater Lorain County including the former Spera’s Pizza Shop.
Mike was a member of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church in Lorain, as well as Lodge # 552 of the Free and Accepted Mason of Lorain, and the Huron Eagles Aerie # 2875.
In his free time he enjoyed both hunting and fishing, and was also a loyal follower of Ohio State University athletics.
He is survived by sisters Mary Ann Buckosh and Camille Cantu, by his long-time friend Connie Majoy, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marge (nee Britton) in 1992, by his daughter Lisa Ann Spera in 1984, by his parents Harry and Stella (nee Matic) Spera, and by a sister Christine Kobasher.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A Mali Pomen service will be conducted there at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral chapel with the Reverend Basil Stoyka presiding. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
