Oliver Franklin Mankin, 69, Enjoyed Golfing

Oliver Franklin Mankin, 69, of Vermilion, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009 in Community Health Partners, Lorain after a short illness.

He was born April 17, 1939 in Greenup, KY. He has been a Vermilion resident for the past 47 years moving from Ashland, KY.

He worked as an inspector for the Ford Automotive Plant in Lorain for 31 years retiring in 1993.

He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermilion and had attended First Baptist Church, Vermilion. He was a member of Ely Masonic Lodge #424 where he was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed golfing.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Janice Mankin (nee Smith) of Vermilion, sons, Roy (Rhea) Mankin of Vermilion and Mark Mankin of Sheffield Lake; daughter, Mitzi Mankin of Vermilion; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Max Mankin of Ashland, KY and Wayne Mankin of New London, OH; sisters, Pat Qualls of Ashland, KY and Cathy Ruth of Lexington, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Roy and Oma (nee Nelson) Mankin and his brother, Leroy Mankin.

Friends may call Thursday, February 26, 2009 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio. Services will be held at 11 a.m. at the Riddle Funeral Home, Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, with The Reverend Donald Resecker officiating. Interment will follow in Rugby Cemetery, Brownhelm Twp.
