Howard Wesley Emery, 75, Enjoyed Flying and Motorcycles

He was born July 7, 1933 in McMillan, MI and has been a Vermilion resident since 1950 moving from Michigan.
He was a veteran of the US Army.
When Howard moved to Vermilion he worked for Moes Marina and Fulpers Auto Parts. He became a journeyman plumber and worked for Harrison Plumbing, Dick West Plumbing and Heating both in Vermilion, and Boose Plumbing, Huron. In 1967 he became a Pipe Fitter for New Departure (Delphi), Sandusky and retired after 37 years in 2004.
He had been a charter member of the Vermilion VFW #7576, a member of the Sandusky UAW # 913, Lake Erie Landlord Association, and the Ohio Farm Bureau.
His handyman skills covered many areas of interest, but he especially enjoyed working on heavy equipment and rebuilding engines. He enjoyed boating, water sports, attending and buying various items at auction sales, gardening, and the outdoors. He had his private pilots license and enjoyed flying and motorcycles. He was known for his cabbage and noodle recipe that he shared with many people.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Nancy Emery (nee Tarrant);
son, Scott Emery of Port Clinton; daughters, Jerri Leigh Emery of Lorain, Bobbi Joann Emery of Lorain, and Nicki (Ted) Gayle Westervelt of West Palm Beach, FL; many nieces & nephews including 2 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew that brought a lot of joy to him.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Wesley A. and Freda N. (nee Huff), a brother, Charles "John" Emery and infant twin sisters.
Friends may call on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 2 p.m. with the Vermilion Veterans Council conducting military honors and Rev. Louis Bertoni officiating.
