Florence M. Damm, 79, Long-Time Hospital Volunteer
Florence M. Damm (nee Bober), 79, of Lorain, died Thursday March 12, 2009 at Community Regional Medical Center in Lorain.She was born Dec. 6, 1929 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain resident.
Florence attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School, graduated from the former Lorain High School and attended the Lorain Business College.
Mrs. Damm had been employed, prior to her marriage, as a purchasing order clerk at the former United States Steel.
She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Peter and the St. Francis of Assisi Mission group of the church.
Florence was a long-time volunteer at Community Health Partners Hospital and Surgical Center and the former St. Joseph Hospital. An avid Cleveland Indians fan, she also enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking.
Mrs. Damm is survived by her son Dr. William A. Damm of Avon, sister Cecilia Veninchak of Lorain, sisters-in-law Martha Bober, Marguerite Mielcarek, and Karen Damm, nephews Greg Bober, Butch Mielcarek, Michael Mielcarek, James Mielcarek, Al Mielcarek, Jeffrey Fenn, and Matthew Fenn, nieces Martha Jorgensen and Deborah Parker, and godchild Cher Parker. She was preceded in death by her husband William A. Damm in 1975, parents John and Emily (nee Olesinski) Bober, brothers Rev. Richard Bober and Lawrence Bober, and nephew Jim Veninchak.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 - 5 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel followed by the mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3501 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. The Reverend Charles Henkle, associate pastor, and the Reverend Daniel O. Divis, pastor of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lorain, will concelebrate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
