Nicholas D. Keron, 81, Avid Sports Fan

He was born March 7, 1928 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Dan attended Clearview High School and graduated in 1946. He enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and was sent to Japan and awarded the WWII Victory Medal and Army Occupation of Japan Medal.
He worked numerous jobs starting with the family restaurant and Lorain Slag. He then sold life insurance for National Life, worked at General Motors and then at US Steel as a foreman in the pipe mills in Lorain. He later worked for Lakeland Enterprises.
Dan was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Lorain and the church seniors. He was an avid sports fan, enjoyed working in his yard, spending time with his family and attending social functions at the church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years LaVerne Keron (nee Ade), daughters Ivy Koperdak (Tim) of Amherst and Julie Keron of Lorain, son Michael Keron of Lorain, grandchildren Matthew and Jennifer Koperdak and Nick and Asley Zolnai, great grandson Jordan, brother Jerry Keron of Elyria and sister Tess Szanto of Avon Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Margaret Keron (nee Bodak), brother George Keron and sister Pauline Stamos.
The family will receive friends Sunday 4 - 8 p.m. at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain where Trisayion services will be held Sunday at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 2000 Tower Blvd., Lorain. The Rev. Michael Gulgas, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Township.
