Betty L. Ensinger, 89, Loved to Cook

She was born December 27, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio and had been a Vermilion resident for 60 years before moving to the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky three years ago.
Betty worked as a Cosmetologist/Beautician prior to entering the Women’s Army Corp. She then served during WWII in Germany, England, and San Diego as a military beautician.
She was a member of the Vermilion Evangelical & Reformed Church where she sang in the Choir. She also sang with the Messiah of Cleveland. She had been a member of the VFW Post #7576. She loved to cook for and entertain company. She enjoyed watching the boats on Lake Erie, sewing, ice skating, roller skating, feeding the birds and caring for animals.
Survivors include her son, Gary Ensinger of Vermilion; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Virgil Cannon of Vermilion; and sister, Vivian Peterson of Ashland.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lee Ensinger, in 2003, parents, William and Nell (nee Smith) and grandson, Christopher Ensinger in 1990.
Honoring Betty's wishes private services were held at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
