Mildred Burgett, 86, Enjoyed Stamp Collecting

Photo of Mildred  Burgett Mildred "Millie" Burgett (nee Blaser), 86, of Lorain passed away Sunday, March 22, 2009, at New Life Hospice in Lorain following a brief illness.

She was born Feb. 11, 1923 in Lorain and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Lorain High School in the Class of 1940-B.

She worked at Smith & Gerhart in Lorain for seven years, beginning in 1940. Millie volunteered for twenty-five years, first at the former Lorain Community Hospital, as a Meals on Wheels driver. After the program moved to the Congregational Church, she continued to volunteer with the program. Millie also continued to volunteer at the hospital in the Treasure Chest. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and working with her stamp collection.

Survivors include her husband of sixty-one years, Robert (Bob); son Robert (Barbara) of Powell; daughters Jan (Tim) Walsh of Elyria, and Sue (Rafael) Mendez of Lorain; and granddaughter, Bridget.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hattie (nee Tode) Blaser, brother Harold and sister Geraldine Springer.

Friends may call Tuesday, March 24, 2009 from 1 - 3 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th St., Lorain, Ohio.

Private burial services will be at Ridge Hill Cemetery.
