Walter E. Nicoloff, 84, Enjoyed Bowling and Golfing

He was born March 13, 1925 in Lorain and was a life long resident. He graduated from Lorain High School, with the class of 1943-A.
Mr. Nicoloff retired in 1983 from U. S. Steel, Lorain Works as a maintenance foreman. He worked there for 34 years. He was the City of Lorain Service Director for two and a half years under Mayor Joseph Zahorik administration.
He served in World War II in the Navy aboard the Carrier U.S.S. Langley. He earned the Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon with 5 battle stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with 2 battle stars.
Mr. Nicoloff belonged to Saint Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Church, Lorain He was a member of the churches brotherhood. He helped maintain the church and make pirogies.
He was a loving husband and father who had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed guarding, bowling and golfing. He pitched a perfect game in slow pitch softball. He coached his sons in little league. Mr. Nicoloff and his family’s band performed Macedonian Folk Music. He also played drums in his Dixieland band for years at Aquamarine in Avon Lake and other venues.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 year Virginia L. (nee Plas) Nicoloff of Lorain and his sons Don (Linda) Nicoloff of Vermilion, Tim (Carmel) Nicoloff Las Vegas, Bob (Sheila) and Tom Nicoloff both of Lorain, his brother Rev. Deacon Blagoy (Raya) Nicoloff of Lorain, sister in law Betty Nicoloff of Lorain, his children’s Godmother Milicia Knezevich of Lorain, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eftim and Dola (nee Dimitrion) Nicoloff, his son John Nicoloff in 1996, brother Matthew Nicoloff and a sister Slavka Velleff.
His family will receive friends Friday, April 3rd from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain, (440) 277 8164. Where Trisagon service will be 7 p.m. Friday evening. His Funeral service will be Saturday, 10 a.m. in Saints Cyril and Methodius Church, 3056 Reeves Ave, Lorain. Rev. Paul G Monkowski, Rector will officiate. Burial will follow Elmwood Cemetery, Lorain, where the Disabled American Veterans, Louis Paul Proy Chapter 20, Lorain will conduct military honors.
