Jan L. Jones, 59, Lorain City School Teacher

She was born December 7, 1949 in Lorain and had been a lifelong Lorain area resident.
Jan was a graduate of Bowling Green State University and earned her Masters Degree in Education from Ashland University. She taught Spanish and French in the Lorain City School System for 30 years before retiring.
Jan enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family, e-mailing family and friends, playing Bunco with her grandchildren, watching the cooking channel, watching the Cleveland Cavaliers, reading, art, playing the piano and writing poetry and had one of her poems published.
She is survived by her daughters Gabrielle Amador (nee Tomaszewski) (Rick), Elizabeth Tomaszewski and Jacqueline Tomaszewski, all of Lorain, son Joseph Tomaszewski of Kent, grandchildren Maleigha Amador, Kellen Amador and Brooklynn Lane, brother Dr. John Chulik of Florida and sister Denise Chulik of Sheffield Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents John Chulik in 2001 and Margaret Chulik (nee Bozik) in 2008.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 4, 2009, from 4-8 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 am in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Wolnowski, pastor of the Catholic Church of St. Peter in Lorain, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
