Doris Geisel, 64, Home Depot Sales Associate
Doris Geisel,(nee Dorn), age 64, of Lorain, died Sunday April 5th, 2009 under the care of New Life Hospice following a one-year battle with cancer.
Mrs. Geisel was born in Fairview Park, Ohio on January 6th, 1945 to Herbert W. and Doris M. (nee Baker) Dorn.
She had been a resident of Lorain for the past fifteen years returning to Ohio from Louisville, Kentucky.
Doris was employed as a sales associate in the appliance department of the Home Depot store in Avon; she retired from that position in 2007. She had previously been employed in the same capacity for the Lowes Home Improvement Center in Elyria.
Mrs. Geisel was an ardent supporter of the Lorain County Humane Society and a variety of animal rescue programs throughout the area.
She is survived by her husband of nineteen months Charles W. Geisel, Sr., by her son Herbert Powell, Jr. residing in Elyria, by step-sons Charles W. Geisel, Jr. of Lewisville, Texas, Joseph M. and James C. Geisel both of Lorain, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and brother Dennis Dorn of Avon Lake.
She was preceded in death by a son James Powell in 2003.
Friends may call Thursday from 7 - 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain.
