Helen M. Hodkey, 87, Enjoyed Cooking and Knitting

She was born in Lorain on Nov. 6, 1921 and remained a life-long resident.
Helen attended Lorain High School; during World War II she was employed as a production assistant at the Lorain Stove Works where she aided in the war effort. She later devoted much of her free time serving as a volunteer with the Saint Joseph Hospital Auxiliary.
Mrs. Hodkey was a parishioner of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria Township where she was also a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. Her hobbies included cooking, knitting, and travel.
Survivors include her sons James (wife Mary Lou) and Dennis (wife Denise) both residing in Amherst. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Brent Hodkey of Russia, Stacey Hodkey of Vandalia, Ohio, Brian Hodkey (wife Tiffany) of Amherst, Dena Hodkey of Mentor-On-The Lake, along with her recently arrived great grandson Bryson Hodkey.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband Aloysius Eli Hodkey in 2005, by her parents Michael and Bertha Solomon, by brothers Joseph, William, and Steve, and by sisters Anna Dorsz and Margaret Cataldo.
Visitation will begin Monday April 13th with a rosary service offered at 4 p.m. by the Saint Vincent de Paul Altar & Rosary Society and continue until 8 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will be Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral chapel. A funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 North Ridge Road, Elyria Township with the Reverend James Ols officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
