Virginia M. Cobb-Emslie, 91, Enjoyed Playing Cards

Photo of Virginia M. Cobb-Emslie Virginia M. Cobb-Emslie (nee McKenzie), 91 of Vermilion, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at the Inn at Chappel Creek, Vermilion after a short illness.

She was born June 15, 1917 in Delphos, Ohio and has been a Vermilion resident for the past 12 years moving from Boynton Beach, FL and Oberlin.

Virginia graduated from the Ohio State University where she was active with the alumni association. She worked as a home economics teacher both in Oberlin at the Oberlin Middle School and Pompano Beach, FL at Crystal Lake Middle School.

She was a member of the First Church in Oberlin, UCC, the Senior Forum (ladies social group), and the Elyria Country Club. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Bridge and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her sons, Charles W. (Gretchen) Cobb of Coral Springs, FL and Dennis O. (Linda) Cobb of Rochester Hills, MI; daughter, Janet (William) Bourne of Vermilion; 6 grandchildren: Karen (John )Holbrook, Kristin (Miguel) Fonseca, William Bourne Jr., Lauren (Randy) Demary, Ryan (Sarah) Cobb, and Alex Cobb; and 4 great grandchildren: Ashley Holbrook, Adam Holbrook, Liam Demary, Renee Fonseca, and Andres Fonseca.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Charles (C.O.) Cobb in 1963; her second husband, Ian Emslie in 1996 and her parents, Dr. Glenn and Marie (nee Porter) McKenzie.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 25, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the First Church in Oberlin, UCC 106 North Main Street Oberlin, OH 44074 with Rev. David T. Hill, Pastor, and Reverend Wendell Brooker, pastor of Vermilion United Church of Christ, co-officiating. Interment will follow in Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
