Helen Zagorsky, 88, Holy Trinity Parishioner

Photo of Helen  Zagorsky Helen Zagorsky, (nee Milas), age 88, of Lorain, died Sunday April 12th, 2009 at the New Life Hospice Center of Saint Joseph.

Helen was born in Lorain on Jan. 3, 1921 and remained a life-long resident of the city.

A graduate of Lorain High School, Mrs. Zagorsky was employed as a bookkeeper for the Aqua Marine Lanes for thirteen years. She had previously been employed by Frank-Seringer, and Chaney, Inc. Certified Public Accountants as well as by the George Canalos Vending Company.

She was an active parishioner of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Lorain where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and also worked as a secretary in the church rectory. She was a member and past President of the Holy Trinity Ladies Guild, as well as the Altar & Rosary Society and the Holy Trinity Senior Citizens Group... She also served as a member and past President of the Holy Trinity P.T.U., and belonged to the Catholic Golden Agers and the Lorain County Seniors Organization.

In her free time Helen enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, and working with crafts.

Survivors include her daughter Joanie Zagorsky of Fort Worth, Texas, sons Lawrence Zagorsky (wife Marie) residing in Lincoln, Rhode Island, and James (wife Tule) Zagorsky of Lorain, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews ranging on to great, great, great nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Joseph W. Zagorsky in 1987, by her father Michael Milas in 1933, by her mother Helen (nee Buben) in 1952, by brothers Joseph, Andrew, and John, and by sisters Mary Milas, Margaret Milas, and Anna Sekerek.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 2 - 4 p.m. & 7 - 9 p.m. in the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Avenue, Lorain. A rosary will be offered by the Holy Trinity Altar & Rosary Society at 3 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday beginning at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral chapel. A funeral mass will follow at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 2428 Elyria Avenue with the Reverend David A. Novak, Pastor of the parish presiding. Burial will follow Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
