Bernice M. Bescak, 93, Cosmetologist

Photo of Bernice M. Bescak Bernice M. Bescak (nee Ciula), 93 of Lorain, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph following a short illness.

She was born on December 8, 1915 in Lorain and had been a lifelong resident. Bernice graduated from Nativity BVM School and Lorain High School class of 1934-A.

She was a licensed cosmetologist and worked for Bernice Bach's Beauty Shop and Jessel's Beauty Shop. She had also worked in the cafeteria at Lorain High School for many years, retiring in 1975.

Bernice was a lifetime member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Lorain and its Altar and Rosary Society and St. Theresa's Lodge. She was a former member of St. John's Drill Team from St. Joseph's Church.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis Bescak of Lorain, Dr. Kenneth Bescak, MD of Sedona, Arizona and Dr. George Bescak, DO of Amherst; daughter, Judith Trifiletti of Lorain; 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded-in-death by her husband of 55 years, George P. Bescak, parents, Stanley and Mary (nee Jakubowski) Ciula, brothers, Stanley Ciula, John Ciula, Joseph Ciula, Frank Chula and Peter Chula, and sisters, Mary Nowicki, Josephine Nowicki and Veronica Bescak.

Friends may call on Saturday, April 18, 2009 from 8:00 am - 11:00 am at the Dombrowski-Humphrey-Riddle Funeral Home, 1939 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. A rosary service will be held at 10:45 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th Street, Lorain. Fr. Charles Bisgrove, S.C.J. and Reverend Robert J. Dybo, deacon, will concelebrate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain. A fellowship lucheon will follow.
